I woke up this morning and realized that it was July, that summer is well underway. Wedding season is officially on, and we couldn’t be happier with it. In the past few weeks, Grant and I have looked at each other every Saturday night and exchanged tired, happy smiles. We have the best clients in the world. No, really, we do! Each Saturday we get to show up to a beautiful wedding and be part of the flurry of activity surrounding two people who are so in love that they want to commit to each other for forever. It’s pretty cool.
Emily and Jarrod are a perfect example of this. They are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and couldn’t be more perfect for one another. They had an afternoon wedding and reception at the Oliver Mansion before leaving to spend two weeks together in Europe. Later this year they will be heading to Calcutta, where Jarrod will be doing education research under a Fulbright Scholarship. I can only imagine the adventures in store, and I think their wedding day was a fitting send-off for the next chapter in their life together.

Emily, you looked so effortlessly beautiful. (Also, I loved the necklace!)

The ceremony was planned for the gardens outside, but rained forced them to change plans and hold it inside the mansion. It was still a gorgeous venue, with beautiful light pouring into the room.

Emily did such a wonderful job pulling together the afternoon tea reception. She made the cake toppers herself! I especially loved the red hearts theme… does it remind anyone else of Alice in Wonderland? (Oh, and props to Grant on the fun ring shot!)

Something blue: Emily embroidered their initials on the back of dress (from J.Crew!).

Favorites!

After a quick dress change, Emily and Jarrod left with bag in hand. I loved that. So classic.

Emily and Jarrod, we couldn’t have been happier that you chose us to photograph your wedding. Thank you! It was a pleasure, and we enjoyed getting to know you both. I hope Greece was amazing, and that your upcoming year in India brings you even closer together. Best wishes!
Jena and Michael Moore: so so beautiful!!! what an amazing wedding
Kristen: Wow. I am once again amazed at the beauty of your work! I am so happy for you Jarrod and Emily! :)
Emily: These are so amazing! Thank you for capturing the day so beautifully :)
April Cochran-Smith: What a cool wedding! I love the shot you captured of the kids on the balcony - perfection.
Mom Shantz: Thanks for the beautiful job you did on a less than perfect day. You captured their spirits and the fun they had on their wedding day perfectly.
We couldn’t be more excited to find ourselves in the middle of wedding season once again. Here’s a peek at another recent wedding… plenty more photos are on the way!

In many ways, Ashley & Jordan’s wedding day was a dream job for us–one that I could photograph 40 times over and still enjoy it just as much. It was partially the beautiful details that Ashley (a wedding photographer herself!) and Jordan designed and arranged and made. It was partially due to the fact that it took place on a long summer day, with a blue sky for the ceremony and a long, dusky twilight that lasted nearly until the last dance. And it was partially because everyone danced their hearts out, and because their families were so helpful and wonderful and happy for them. But it was mostly because Ashley and Jordan are two wonderful people who enjoyed every minute of the day they joined their lives. And that makes taking pictures a dream. Enjoy our favorites from their day:

The two of them opted for a first look because of the later ceremony.

Leandra’s view:

And mine, on the left. I don’t have to say how wonderful the two of them looked.

Getting ready to walk down the (long) aisle.

The first kiss:

…which wasn’t enough, apparently, because they just had to share another just as soon as the ceremony ended!

Some of the beautiful details:

I think the first dance is one of my favorite parts of the day. I love how each couple seems so relieved to make it into each other’s arms for a few minutes.

Jordan’s parents:

One of our favorite couples from the early days of our business, Jess and Matt!

…and one last kiss.

Ashley and Jordan, you deserve all the best your new life has to offer you both, Thanks for the honor of being there on the first day of it!
Oh, and make sure you check out Ashley’s blog!
Jessica and Matt: Haha. It looks like I'm torturing him with my death grip in that picture, but as usually the pics look great! Job well done!
