As we ate our ginormous strawberry shortcake at Ivanhoe’s with Amy and Joe, we heard about the night he proposed. What began as a scavenger hunt for Amy led her to downtown Indy, where she finally met Joe at the fifty yard line at Lucas Oil Stadium (home of the Colts, for any non-Midwesterners out there!) He proposed there, midfield, but before they could take their romantic carriage ride through downtown, they both scored a few fake touchdowns while they had the entire stadium to themselves. And that’s who Amy and Joe are–two thoughtful people whose relationship is filled with as much laughter and light-heartedness as romance.

Our favorites from the wonderful (yes, laughter-filled!) spring evening with them:

Okay… one more.

Yeah, these two are the same pose and the same place (like the picture in the sneak peek, too!), but I love both of these… I took the first one, Leandra, the second.

Across from Taylor, there was a grove of beautiful blossoming trees, so we knew we wanted to end the session there.

Thanks, you two, for opening our eyes to the wonders of Ivanhoe’s and for sharing your evening with us! Can’t wait for the wedding in July!

I had never seen Kristen before, until I watched Quinton and her walk along the boardwalk I was hiding under. I had never heard her say anything until I heard her almost-shout “yes!” to Quinton’s question. I’d never seen the two of them kiss until I saw their faces touch underneath their umbrella. And it was then that I decided that there wasn’t a better time to meet someone than on the night she is proposed to, and that there’s no better time to first see a couple kiss than on the evening they say “yes” to the rest of their lives.

Thank you, Quinton and Kristen, for letting me share a bit of your wonderful evening with you!

Some favorites…

After Quinton and Kristen left the Mill Race park where he proposed, they had dinner in downtown Goshen. During dinner, Quinton told Kristen that I had been there at the park (of which she had no idea!), and would like to take a few with them after dinner. So, we did!

Love this one…

…and these two–they might be favorites.

Thanks again, you two! It was truly a pleasure to be there on such a wonderful and happy evening for you both.

p.s. If you know someone who is, or are planning to propose yourself, I’d love to photograph it, too!

I mentioned to Leandra this afternoon as we were driving back from a walk at our favorite park that it seems like we both have been more acutely aware of every little step spring has taken this year. Usually, it seems like I look up during the first week or May or so, and realize that all the trees suddenly have leaves. But this year, for whatever reason (probably just because we’re *so* ready for some summer!) we’ve both been able to mark each bit of progress, from the ready-to-pop buds, to the tiny, tiny leaves and early daffodils, to the first few tulips and the slow “greening” of the trees in the distance as we drive out to the park. And the time we spent with Amy and Joe at Taylor University last Saturday was, to me, one of those landmark spring days–the entire campus was in bloom, the leaves had popped, and it was a beautiful, warm day. It was warm enough, in fact, that the visit to Ivanhoe’s (upon the insistence of Amy and Joe!) warranted a ginormous strawberry shortcake between the two of us.

Anyways… as we’re working through their pictures, we wanted to share a few early favorites. Enjoy!

An April Proposal

April 14, 2010

Together can never be close enough for me
Feel like I am close enough to you
You wear white and I’ll wear out the words ‘I love you’
And you’re beautiful
Now that the wait is over
And love has finally shown her my way
Marry me today and every day

We’ll be sharing more photographs from Quinton’s proposal to Kristen (and her “Yes!”) within the week…

Somebody: I am surprised Kristen didn't see this coming... or maybe she did. Anyway, congratulations Quinton and Kristen! And those are some really nice pictures.

Melissa Clayton: These are perfect! I'm so excited to see the rest!

Kristen: :)

Future Sister-In-Law: Yay! These are so amazing, I can't wait to see the rest :) I think the crummy weather just adds to the amazing-ness, too.
